In Lightening’s Blogworld This Week

As I begin to write this, I am only 2 days into the week and already seem to have shed bucket loads of tears in the posts I have read. So this week’s “wrap up” is going to have quite a few “touchy feely” type posts.

Firstly, we can’t have a week with Valentine’s Day in it without at least one Valentine’s post. Rachelle from Seek First His Kingdom wrote a lovely post called Hearts and Flowers which details how they as a family celebrate Valentine’s Day together.

Frogdancer totally blew me away this week with a post that started off being about her son getting voted to be School Captain and finished with the most awesome mother-son conversation that is sure to bring a tear to your eye. I’m more accustomed to laughing than crying when I read Frogdancers brilliant and witty take on the world. This post is a definite must read for all parents (and non-parents too!).

I was pointed in the direction of a blog I’ve not read before to read a post on releasing children from poverty. It is a wonderfully written and moving post about one man’s experience of visiting a third world country and how doing so changed his perspective on life.

Tiffany from Three Ring Circus seems to have the knack for reducing me to tears with her writing. In a positive, touching way. Her post, My Mum Knits Yellow Booties really brought a tear to my eye. I have to admit I’m not big on superstition. But I am big on HOPE. What a simple act that has brought much hope and joy into people’s lives. I REALLY couldn’t help but wonder when she talked about her own experience with TWO pairs of booties.

I had actually intended to share last week, a couple of Tiff’s pages where she bravely shares about William’s Story and Ivy and Noah’s Birth. Be warned, they are both tear jerkers and likely to make even the most stoic of us feel touched and a tad emotional. Thanks Tiffany for your bravery and open-ness in sharing. It has really touched me in a special way.

We celebrated with the news that Kin’s baby had finally arrived. A beautiful girl named Megwyn. Congratulations Kin.

We shared some blogger blogs that members had discovered that looked really great. And also shared some great resources for those looking for a fresh looking template for their blogger blog. I used one of those suggested when setting up my Lightening’s Garden blog.

I’ve been away a lot of this week so I’m sure there has been plenty of valuable discussion that I’m yet to catch up on. To make sure you haven’t missed anything, pop over to the Aussie Bloggers Forum and sign yourself up. Smile

I read this earlier today, and I was so pleased (and a little embarrarred (shucks…)) to get a mention. Thanks. Bren hasn’t mentioned the conversation since, but I hope it sank in. That’s the interesting thing about parenting, isn’t it? You never know what things the kids will take, and what they’ll leave.

Thanks Lightening for including me! MWA!

You’re more than welcome Tiff. :) Thanks for writing such touching and open posts.

Oh Frogdancer, I’m soooo sorry. I just rescued you from the spam bin. :( I have NO IDEA why it ended up in there. I can’t see any word in your comment that might have resulted in that. I’ll try to keep a closer eye in future….Off to check my other blog now (just in case).
