Entrecard Blog Review: Shanker Bakshi dot com
Shanker Bakshi dot com presents itself as a well set-out and easily navigatable blog. The bulk of the posts seem to be aimed at blogging in some way although I noticed a number of more personal posts intersperced as well. I know some people are big on sticking to a specific niche when it comes to blogging but I actually like the personal aspect of blogging and think it adds a dimension to any blog to include a little bit about yourself and your interests from time to time.
His post Can We Succeed in Blogging Without Evil Tactics intrigued me. Something I really struggle with in the blogging world is the seemingly lack of ethics demonstrated by some bloggers. Some would argue that it’s okay to do what it takes to get to the top. I’d like to think he is right in his thoughts:
• Content is The King – and nothing could really take you there if you don’t have some nicely written article on your blog.
• You will get the success you Deserve for your great works –sooner or later. No body can snatch that from you.
As someone who is rather clueless when it comes to things like plagiarism in the internet world, I found his post How to Deal with Copy Cat Bloggers quite interesting. I will also admit I did have a bit of a drool over this lovely PINK notebook. Not that I’ve ever used a Mac but we sure are starved for choice when it comes to computer colours and “bling” here in Australia.
What I Liked About This Blog
- Well set out and easy to navigate. Could easily find my way around and find where to subscribe.
- Nice clear font and good use of images to add aesthetic appeal.
- The site wasn’t overly cluttered with advertising. I thought the balance between advertising and content was quite good.
Things I Would Do Differently If This Were My Blog
- I did struggle a little with the English expression. However, this wasn’t a big enough issue that it would prevent me from reading the blog.
- I wondered about this quote found on the about page “consider him [John Chow] as his dot com idol and try to imitate him”. To be honest I’m not a big fan of John Chow. I think you have a lot to offer and no need whatsoever to feel like imitating John Chow. Find your own voice and go for it!!! I think there is more to be gained from carving your own path in the blogging world rather than looking to imitate the success of another.
- While there are some links on the “about” page to more information, I’d like to see just a little bit more detail about the blog author actually included on this page. Or maybe I’m just nosey???
