Entrecard Blog Review: MonkeyChapps
To be honest, when I first looked at the blog MonkeyChapps, I thought it wasn’t really the kind of blog I would enjoy reading. That doesn’t disqualify it from being a good blog of course. We all have different tastes when we come to blogs. I think perhaps the image of the monkey with flames coming out of it’s head put me off a little. I admit, I’m a “soft sort”.
But as I started to peruse the blog for posts I wanted to highlight, I came across the post “I Guess America Is the Only Country With Stupid People” and the video that has been posted there is absolutely hilarious. I wasn’t sure if it was fair of me to be laughing until I reached the part where a whole host of people labelled Australia as anything BUT Australia. I will point out though, for fairness sake, that America ISN’T the only country with stupid people. We all have them. It certainly is a funny video though.
I also laughed my way through the post Bathroom Problems. Not the sort of thing I would choose to share on a public blog but an absolutely hilarious read nonetheless. Of course, amidst all the humor, the blog writer brings up some very valid points about guest comfort.
While we’re on the topic of humor. If you enjoy a laugh at other people’s mishaps, you’ll also enjoy the video posted on Happy Thursday and Please Enjoy.
Things I Liked About This Blog
- The blog owner has included a forum which I think is a great way to promote community on the blog.
- There is plenty of information about both the blog and the blog owner on the homepage.
- It is in the Top 100,000 Alexa rankings so has obviously met with a certain measure of success.
Things I Would Do Differently If This Were My Blog
- I found navigation around the blog a little difficult. I’m used to being able to view posts in descending order from when they were posted. The only way I was able to find ANY post was by clicking titles in the “Recent Posts” widget in the sidebar. Categories are also listed but I found this an unusual way to navigate around the blog. If there is another way to do so, it wasn’t obvious to me.
- For some reason both the “Home” tab and the “You Have Monkee Spirit” tabs both took me to the same page. I’m not sure if this is deliberate and whether there is a reason for this. I think most people would expect different tabs to take them different places.
Overall I found it to be a very entertaining blog and appreciated the opportunity to review it.
