Entrecard - What’s Stopping You?

It seems that everywhere I turn lately, bloggers are blogging about Entrecard. Whether they love it or hate it, everyone is talking about it. Okay, maybe not EVERYONE but certainly a LOT of people.

So, if you haven’t joined up yet, what’s stopping you?

Here are a few common objections:

1. I’ve Never Heard Of Entrecard

Okay, well that would be a very valid reason why you’ve not joined yet. Laughing

Entrecard is basically a blog advertising swap deal. You advertise other blogs on yours and can apply to have yours advertised on others. You can earn points by dropping your card on other blogs and them dropping on you. It’s a way of generating traffic to your blog and exposing your blog to audiences you might not reach any other way.

Joining up is really quite easy and you can do so at the Entrecard Website.

2. I don’t have a suitable 125×125 graphic

I’ve mentioned this blog before but it’s well worth mentioning again. At the time of writing this, they have 6 pages of beautiful graphics to choose from and these are being added to periodically.

The following link will take you to page 6 of their graphics. There you will find links to the other 5 pages they have made:

Free 125×125 ads for your blog

If you would like text added to the graphic, they will also do this for a nominal charge. You can add text yourself if you would like to. Or simply use a graphic without text.

3. It takes too much time to be really worth my while

Whatever form of blog promotion you choose to use, you will get out of it what you put in. The good news is that Entrecard can work well for those who have small amounts of time as well as for those who spend large amounts of time.

4. I’ve heard all anyone ever does is drop and run. I only want quality traffic.

So far my experience with Entrecard has seen the traffic improve over time. I think those who complain about people “dropping and running” misunderstand the value of simply having your “brand” getting seen.

I have a number of blogs that I drop cards on, on a daily basis. Every time I visit their site, I see something of what they’re saying. Sometimes I stop to read and comment. Other times I won’t. But the more often I visit a site, the more inclined I feel to comment.

Again, you get out of Entrecard what you put into it. Try stopping to comment on the blogs you visit and see whether that makes a change to the type of Entrecard traffic you get. BE the traffic you’d like to get.

5. All the “how to get the most out of Entrecard” type posts have my head spinning.

Put 5 bloggers in a room together and it’s likely you’ll have 5 different opinions. We all like to have our say on how this works or that works. Isn’t that what blogging is about? The opportunity to voice your thoughts and opinions? So, take what bits work for you and discard the rest.

Entrecard is growing rapidly and new features are constantly being added. There’s never been a better time than now to join up. So, what’s stopping you? It’s time to take the plunge and get involved.

Comments

OK - I am “being” the Entrecard visitor I want to get- and leaving a comment. I love comments and seem to be getting a lot of them since I joined Entrecard. I try to drop 300 a day but I am spending more and more time reading the blogs, leaving comments and clicking through the various links on their pages. There are a lot of really really great blogs here - a great way to discover hidden treasure and pearls of wisdom. Good post. I’ll be back for more.

The only thing I dont like about Entrecard is that it resets every night and then credit to advertise on a site becomes less and then drop lower in the ranks.

Other than that Entrecard brings great traffic with it. Some months entrecard was my 1/3 of my traffic when my blog started.

Maybe you know me better that I thought - how did you know I didn’t have a 125 x 125 graphic - off to check out the site - thanks for the link :)

I just joined up over the weekend and already I am a little hooked I think! I am trying to figure out ways to promote my blog a little more and this seems like a good way! Problem is I am spending so much time checking out other blogs that I haven`t blogged myself since I signed up!

It took a little fiddling to make a 125 x 125 graphic and in the end i used picnik which worked really well! I just used one of the photos I had taken recently of cherry blossoms!!!

I am still figuring it out! But it seems to be going ok!

Lightening - love the blog. And I love the setup you have. Everything is placed around perfectly.

Have a good week.

Thanks Off-grid living, for your kind words AND taking the time to comment. :)

esvl - I noticed that, although the change here happens mid-afternoon because of time differences. The new system will be interesting to watch. I didn’t know there were changes afoot until this morning.

Gemisht - that’s what this site was started on the basis of. Things that I didn’t know or struggled with are SURELY not restricted to me. Hope you can find something. Otherwise, use paint to cut out a piece of your header graphic. If you need anymore help, let me know. :)

Lulu - I’m not familiar with picnik. Is that available online? Blogging is all about balance isn’t it? Some days we get the balance right (between blogging, commenting, promoting, fixing up our blogs, answering comments etc etc etc) and some days we struggle. I tend to use a bit of a “priority list” in my own head to help with that.

Have you checked out the new pricing system yet? I checked this afternoon and had gone from 300 odd ec’s to 4,096. I thought at first it was a bug, but no, its actually the new pricing system.

Trey - thank you for dropping by and for your kind words. :) Can you tell I’m an addict?

Ian - so far my opinion of the new pricing system is “it’s crazy”. But I’m prepared to give it some time to see how things pan out.
