Entrecard Blog Review: Internet Business Guide
Internet Business Guide is the blog found at Hochstadt.com, one of the most well-known blogs in the Entrecard community.
While his focus is on providing tips for online business, many of the posts can relate to day to day living as well. I particularly liked his post “The Power of Focus” with tips for everyday life. The discussion which followed the post also brings up some important issues like the fact that focus can in fact be something that needs to be practised. It won’t necessarily come naturally.
I also really enjoyed the post “Why Your Belief System Determines Your Success”.
What I Like About This Blog
- It’s a simple, clean and uncluttered blog.
- The image of the blog author gives a personal touch to the blog.
- I really liked his About page. It was simple, friendly and honest about where he as a blogger is coming from.
- The posts are well set out, easy to read with good use of images, paragraphs and headings.
What I Would Do Differently If This Were My Blog
- I didn’t feel that the subscribe options were easy to spot. Because of the growing tendency for people to add marketting to the top line of their pages, I think I have gotten used to blanking this section out when looking at a page.
- As I scrolled down it seemed that there was a LOT of non-content posts on the front page. 3 of the 4 most recent posts were about a 24 hour special being held. Then the next 2 posts were “in house” type posts about the blogs results. I assume this is the “exception” and not the “norm” though.
- Could more use be made of the tabs in the header bar? Perhaps a page dedicated to top posts or articles.
- I almost missed the material at the bottom of the page and have to wonder how many other reads might never scroll all the way to the bottom to find that information. If you really want to keep with that layout, I would shorten the home page considerably so that it doesn’t require as much scrolling to find.
I found the use of password protected posts interesting and would like to know a bit more about those and how well they are working. Is the purpose to encourage subscribers? My concern would be whether such a tactic might be off-putting to new visitors to the blog. It’s something I haven’t come across before.

Thanks Suzie. I’m glad you’re enjoying them.
I’ve been doing 2 different types of these. This one is an “Entrecard Blog Review” and I sell these periodically through the Entrecard shop. Not precisely what I view as a “paid review” as it amounts to around $2 but it’s been a helpful way for me to promote them.
The “Blog Profiles” are blogs of my choosing and are more a “this is what I like about this blog” rather than an actual “review” with both positives AND areas that could be improved.
I will go and check the shop out, would you like to do mine? I Know I need to fix stuff, want to have a new theme eventually and want a new header that is less dominant.
I am going to focus the blog on LOA I think and write on another blog like you do with this - will announce soon what is happening.
Did you get onto skype yet?
I would be happy to do one for you Suzie. As long as you understand it’s simply my opinion and nothing else.
As for Skype - haven’t gotten any further yet. Busy couple of days and we don’t live near shops so I haven’t even looked into headsets or anything yet. I’ll get there eventually (I hope). ![]()
Thanks for the review and your feedback, Lightning! :o)
And the length of the home page is purposefully that long (to give the Search Engines more food… ;o)
Take care!

I like these reviews you are doing. Are people asking you or do you choose.
