Entrecard Blog Review: Fitness Life Club
Fitness Life Club is the website for Health and Fitness Guru Pat King. I have to admit I LOVED the idea of having a mission statement and was quite inspired by the words “To ALWAYS serve you with honor and integrity!” I have to admit that honor and integrity are qualities not observed as often as I would like.
I was a little perturbed to read the post “Who Stole My Cheese?” Being a cheese lover myself I wasn’t all that sure I wanted to know how bad cheese might be for me. So I found this particular quote quite helpful - “The harder the cheese, the less in saturated fat.” It’s a nice simple rule of thumb that’s fairly easy to remember.
Given I’ve just started working with a personal trainer, I really enjoyed the “10 Benefits of Working with a Personal Trainer” post. I have to say I agreed with all 10 and I’m really happy with my own decision to make use of the expertise of a personal trainer.
Things I Liked About This Blog
- The tagline in the header sounded impressive. I guess it adds a certain “credibility” to the blog.
- I found the site overall quite pleasant to look at.
- There was an obvious search feature available as well as prominent categories listed to assist with site navigation.
- The detailed about page and also the mission statement.
- I felt the use of advertising was done discretely in such a way that it didn’t detract from the overall look and feel of the blog.
Things I Would Do Differently If This Were My Blog
- Content above the fold is considered quite important. The larger header and use of google ads has pushed a large amount of the content below the fold on this blog. Personally I would make a choice here between a smaller header OR moving the ads that are pushing the content down below the fold.
- I liked the idea of the forum but when I went to check it out it wasn’t available. I’m not sure if this is a temporary issue or whether the forum isn’t up and running yet. If it’s yet to get up and running, it might be helpful to readers if some kind of timeline is indicated on the page they are taken to rather than a “please try again later” comment.
- Personally, I prefer headers that are clickable. I’ve gotten into the habit of moving straight to the header when I want to go to the “home page” rather than having to find a tab or link labelled “home”.
- I noticed this blog has a number of regular contributors. It would be nice if some information about these authors were included either on the “about” page or on a separate page.
