Money Makes People Funny

Every noticed that? Money has an enormous power over people. If they let it. Let’s face it, it’s pretty hard to live in our current society without money.

But whenever money is involved, people get suspicious. If you want to make money blogging, does that mean that your ONLY interest with blogging is earning money? Does this mean that you’ll automatically compromise your own values to make a dollar?

Sadly, for some people, I believe the answer to this question is “yes”. Does that mean that all bloggers that want to make money blogging are like this? Of course not. If one year 5 boy is a bully, does that automatically mean all year 5 boys are bully’s? No. The same goes for blogging. And yet we automatically tend to get our shackles up when someone wants to make money blogging. Well, some people do anyway.

What about when someone offers something for free? What do we automatically think? “What’s the catch?” Of course there’s a catch because no-one does things altruistically anymore. Well, very few people anyway.

I think I’ve been reasonably upfront about my concerns with Aaron Abber offering a free mentoring program. Part of me wanted to get involved and see if I was able to learn something. Part of me was like “get real, you’ll never be able to do that kind of stuff”. And the other part of me was like “this can’t be for real, there has to be some kind of a catch”.

Well, here’s the catch folks: “I help you. You help me. We all help each other.”

So far I’ve found Aaron to be honest and upfront about what he’s requiring of the participants in the program. I have no idea if I’ll be able to meet them but I’ll take it one week at a time and see how we go.

I’ve already learnt so much and even if I NEVER make any money from doing this mentoring program, I know I’m not going to leave empty handed either.

If you’ve not checked out Full Tilt Blogging yet, it’s worth a look and if you sign up (which is FREE, zero strings attached) you get all kinds of sneak peeks and goodies included. Smile

As a fellow mentoree, think this is a good overview and realise we have already learnt new things that we can use on our blogs.
