The Cow and The Conn Face Off In Lightening’s Blogworld This Week
I haven’t been reading John Cow for all that long but a recent announcement that he was challenging Garry Conn (who I’d not even heard of up until that moment) to a blog building contest. They each have 30 days to build up a blog AND earn money from it. John Cow has declared that anything he earns will be donated to World Vision. In the meantime, they are inviting their readers to follow the process of starting a blog from scratch. I think if nothing else, it should make for interesting reading.
John Cow is also hosting a competition in conjunction with this challenge. The prizes in this competition are:
- A FREE Copy of Affiliate Elite Enterprise Edition ($550+ value)
- A FREE Copy of TrafficTravis ($97 Value)
- A FREE 1 Year Membership at PLR Pro ($1164 Value)
- A FREE Copy of Easy Member Pro Unlimited ($297 Value)
- A FREE Copy of Video Post Robot ($197 Value)
So, if any of those items are of interest to you, head over and check the contest out.
Not to be outdone, Garry Conn has a contest of his own. To enter you simply write an article about preventing credit card debt. A winner will also be selected from the articles submitted to receive a copy of White Smoke software.
Some people are questioning the validity of this whole challenge. My question is, does it really matter? They’re creating buzz, having fun and teaching people what they’re doing all at the same time. And if world vision is set to benefit from funds made, all the better.
I’m planning on following this challenge with interest.
SOME OF THE OTHER BLOG POSTS I’VE ENJOYED THIS WEEK
Caroline Middlebrook wrote an inspiring post on how sometimes it’s important to take a step back from the bigger stuff and give ourselves a bit of a break. You can read it at “sometimes you just gotta forget the golf balls and just play in the sand”.
Popular Wealth published a great article on 10 Tips to Get More Blog Comments. What blogger wouldn’t like to get more comments on their blogs? It has surprised me of late how many blogs I’ve come across that seem to make it difficult to leave comments!?!
Planning with Kids has launched a free ebook “Planning with Kids Top 100 Tips” to celebrate their 100th post milestone.
Rhonda Jean at Down to Earth has written a great post on finding your own path to simple living.
Journeyer’s Chronicles has a great post about Getting Off The Consumerism Bandwagon.

Sounds like an interesting challenge. I’m going to pop over for a look. I don’t quite understand why some people get antsy over this type of thing. A bit of fun and possibly learn something along the way - what’s the harm?
A very big thank you for the link too ![]()
Hey Journeyer - you’re welcome on the link.
I agree, who’s getting hurt by what they’re doing. I’m quite looking forward to it myself. ![]()
I agree, Lightening, this should be fun and we may possibly learn some valuable lessons. I will be following their progress.
I didn’t know that that challenge was going on (that really shouldn’t surprise me as their is so much that I don’t know about the blogosphere). I will definitely check it out though, thanks for the info and also for the link to my e-book, I appreciate that! ![]()

Well, good luck to them. Contests are usually a pain, but they do pay off. I usually have cash as a prize. Anyone can give away ebooks. LOL
