Creating Buzz Around the Blogosphere
In a recent post, I made a comment about Market Leverage causing a Buzz around the Blogosphere by giving bloggers STUFF.
Honestly, I think giving bloggers STUFF is an EXCELLENT marketing technique. Because bloggers love to get STUFF. Like FREE STUFF.
Then they blog about said free stuff and other bloggers go “oh, I wish someone would send me free stuff”. Just like I did.
My post went something along these lines (okay, exactly along these lines since I’m doing a copy and paste here):
Forget Making Money Blogging
I’ll happily head straight for the “perks”. I want one!!!! I don’t care what’s in it. I just want one of these “surprise packages”.
Market Leverage, if you’ve lost my address, feel free to get in touch via my contact form.
This was me being FUNNY.
So imagine my surprise when someone from Market Leverage really DID get in touch with my via my contact page!!!!!

Luckily for me it was a pleasant surprise.
They said they were interested in purchasing some advertising space on my blog AND asked for my address.
And TODAY I got an exciting parcel in the post.
It looks like my tendency to be cheeky finally PAID OFF, rather than getting me into trouble!!!!
Now, I don’t have all the fancy stuff for making a live video of my package. But here are a few photographs. For larger views, simply click on the image.
The Market Leverage Box (yes, small things excite small people!!!)
A top quality Market Leverage hat! I think my husband has his eye on it but it’s MINE!!!!
Eat your heart out John Chow. I don’t need to win YOUR Market Leverage Pen/Thumb Drive, they love me like me feel sorry for me enough to send me my own. And I am SO NOT giving MINE away!!!!!
This is a Nike brand polo shirt. It’s a bit big for me (perhaps I should have mentioned I’m a size M?) but I think I might give it to my dad. It’s made from that “breathable” material. I think he’ll LOVE it!!!!
I don’t care how big it is. I am TOTALLY keeping this one!!! Do you think my husband will get worried if I wear this to bed????
Imagine being faced with “I’m blogging this” during an intimate moment!!!???!!!
Thank you SO much Market Leverage!!!! I really, truly, honestly was only joking when I made a flippant comment about contacting me. But I really do appreciate it from the bottom of my heart. It is SO nice to see a company that cares about the “little guys”. And if I ever make it into the “big league”, I won’t forget this.

Well done…
And I can just imagine the reaction during an intimate moment if you were to wear this shirt … ![]()
I wonder who else you can goad into sending you some free stuff.
@Suzie -
@Naomi - thanks.
@River - did you edit your comment? Cos I got a different version in my inbox.
@ceblogger - I think it’s the kind of thing you can’t DO deliberately. It just accidentally happens.
@jeanie - lol
@Mark - will definitely employ this strategy again. Although it usually only works the first time (ie the time you’re not expecting it to work). Said shirt is now a running joke between DH and I.
@Fern - indeed. ![]()
Hi Lightening,
well done
I only wish it worked for me - all I get is abuse from other bloggers for being a smart*ss
Cheers, Andrew
Haha, good on you! That Aussie cheekiness worked a treat. Well done
I wonder if I start shouting about wanting free cookbooks anyone will listen? Hmmmm, I think it’s worth a shot!
Andrew - ROFLOL. You cracked me up with that one.
There is obviously an art to this process!!!!
Christie - You never know until you give it a go. How about approaching some cookbook authors to see if they’d like their cookbook featured on your blog. All they need to do is send you a copy! ![]()
Congratulations! You know you’ve made it when you get sent free stuff! Maybe one day I’ll know what that’s like… [sniff]…
