Let’s Hear it For the Boys In Lightening’s Blogworld This Week
Last week I did a special feature on female Australian bloggers and promised that this week I’d feature some male Australian bloggers.
Here’s a little glimpse into the blogs by Aussie males that I enjoy reading:
From My Feedreader:
Problogger
Without a doubt, Darren Rowse would have to be one of the most well-known Australian bloggers in the entire blogosphere.
His experience and style of writing give his blog a professional and yet approachable feel to it. In one of his recent posts, Darren gives his thoughts on being more productive in your blogging tasks.
On Blogging Australia
I came across this blog of Andrew Boyd’s in November last year. Very little he had to say made sense to me. NOT because he doesn’t make sense but because my knowledge was very limited. He did however, patiently answer my questions and put up with my essay length comments. I’ve learnt a LOT about blogging from reading his blogs.
He is currently working his way through a series on blogging with his latest post in this series being “C is For Content“.
He also hosts an up to date list of Aussie Bloggers Using Entrecard.
Ben Barden - Blogging and Website Tips Without the Jargon
I’ve been reading Ben’s blog for a number of months now and really enjoy his writing style and his ability to explain things simply without sounding like he’s speaking down to anyone. For someone who obviously knows quite a LOT about the technical side of things, he does very well to be aware of the use of jargon and to explain things the way he does. I’m naturally drawn to his posts because I know my head isn’t going to get bamboozled in attempting to digest the point he is putting across.
He is also the man behind Injader.
Quit Your Day Job
Lee seems to have the ability to make people laugh. I enjoy the view he has on the world and while not every post is of interest to me, I still find it a blog worth reading on a regular basis.
Schwoit
Sadly, Shadow Knight hasn’t updated his blog for some time. Sometimes life and blogging don’t mix too well together. But I keep his blog there in my feedreader just in case he decides to rejoin the blogging world once again.
Strawbale House
One of the newest additions to my bloglines reader. I am enjoying following the progress of this couple as they embark on a journey of building a strawbale house. This is something I would have LOVED to have done (and maybe someday still will) but we just didn’t have te time or finances to invest at the time of building this house. I also enjoy reading the posts on sustainable energy which is a path my husband and I would definitely like to embark upon.
So there you have it, a tiny peak into a section of my feedreader.
I also periodically read blogs by other Aussie Males including:
Now the only problem with doing something like this is the possibility of missing someone.
This is by no means an exhaustive list of good blogs written by Australian males (whether they be born here, migrated here or just have some sort of affiliation with this Great Southern Land). Just a few that I have found enjoyable and/or helpful so far.
What blogs written by Australian Males do you enjoy reading?
If you enjoyed this post, please feel free to leave a comment or subscribe to the feed and get future articles delivered to your feed reader.
Comments
Cheers for the mention! I often wonder about people who are not pop culture obsessed reading my site.
I imagine when I talk about a very genre or niche based item it must be boring for non-geeks so I’m trying to sprinkle a few more generic posts throughout such as velour pants man. ![]()
Neerav - you’re welcome. I’ll check that guest article out.
Ben - you’re welcome.
Lee - you should write what you want. Not everything appeals to everyone. I think the fact that I still read your blog regularly despite not being interested in some of your topics speaks volumes. ![]()
Thanks Lightening.
I like some of those blogs too. I must take a look at your girls list.
Good writing is just that and sometimes it is worth reading or subscribing to catch posts that interest you in a blog that is not necessarily of primary interest.
Thanks for the great list! I was already reading pro-blogger, but all of the others are new to me. Looks like I will have a lot more reading to do each day from now on ![]()

Thanks Lightening
Glad you like my friend Mark’s Strawbale House blog, he wrote about why he’s building the house in a guest article on my blog which I just published a few minutes ago at reasons to build a strawbale house
