Farewell Rubicon Project

I find the best way to decide which monetization strategies are going to most fruitful for a blog/website is to give them a go.

When I first began with the Rubicon Project, it seemed promising. While the first couple of months yielded only a few dollars, it had promise and I persevered for some time, hoping that promise would come to fruition.

Sadly, after the first few months, revenue dropped to under 50c a month and it hasn’t picked up again since.

This isn’t a massive blog in terms of traffic but I feel for the amount of real estate the Rubicon Project graphic was taking up, 22c a month just wasn’t worth maintaining it.

So, for now, I have chosen to remove Rubicon Project from the blog.

I’m not replacing it with anything in particular. Not just yet anyway. I have done a bit of moving around in my sidebars but that’s about it.

I may even return at some point in the future. We’ll see.

Good strategy. I would do the same if I were you. I have not yet monetized my site yet though!

Hmm, I forgot to give this one a try, looks like I might not bother!

Nicole - I would say not to rush it, although it depends on what your blogging goals are.

Ben - I guess every blog is different. I still think the direct stuff pays the best, if you can find it. Cuts out the middle man so more in your pocket.

How much is that few dollars? $10 $100??
do you recommend for newbies now?
