A Brand New Year
Image via WikipediaToday heralds in the New Year and gives us the opportunity to start afresh.
I’ve not really sat down and set myself blogging goals (or resolutions) and I’m wondering if this year would be a good year to begin. Here are a few goals/plans/resolutions I have for Lightening’s Blogworld:
1. Pre-write more posts.
I actually find writing easier when I’m in the “groove”. What gets me in the groove? Writing. So writing a series of posts in one sitting makes sense.
2. Write 30 “How To” or “Tutorial” style posts.
I’ve always intended to do more of these on this blog. As much to remind myself how to do things as anything.
3. Respond to comments more often (at least once a day)
4. Visit and comment on the blogs of those who’ve commented on mine
I’m particularly bad at this one although I am trying to do better.
5. Work on 2 new backlinks per week.
With so many blogs, I have to be realistic with my time. I’ve let this blog slide a little in the past few months and would like to improve my google ranking at least a little.
No money making goals for this year. Our biggest focus this year is a trip we’re taking later in the year (for 3 months). I don’t want to neglect this blog (or my others for that matter) but need to keep my goals light for now so that I don’t overwhelm myself.
What about you? Do you set regular goals and milestones for your blog or do you prefer to simply take it as it comes?

I am one of those who let things happen as they do. I stopped making resolutions many years ago.
Having said that, I must admit that yours make me want to do it this year!
I am going with goals rather than resolutions this year - including creating a blog for my business and get my business going to such a point that I can relax a moment or two here and there.
Like jeanie, I’m also going with goals instead of resolutions. Some of my goals include increasing traffic/earnings, putting up a couple more sites, and maintaining good grades in college.
Happy New Year.
I haven’t been setting myself regular goals in terms of blogging, but I’m definitely going to this year.
I’m really keen on the idea (and let’s hope the reality!) of providing tutorials and how to - i think a good website should encourage interactivity.
Its great to see that you have set goals for yourself this year, hope you achieve them all. How is it going so far?

Happy 2009 to you here! I hope you will be able to fulfill your wish and I would work hard to fulfill mine too =)
